Welcome to Lviv!
The only city in the world with a seated Statue of Liberty. And one of the few cities in the world with a seated statue of Jesus Christ.
We had a desire to pay tribute to our hometown by highlighting some of its symbolic features - which, in turn, was definitely not planned, but there is definitely something magical about this coincidence.
In addition, this combination of symbols, in our opinion, is a good representation of the city, and well describes the character of its inhabitants. Lviv, as they say, is the Ukrainian Piedmont. A somewhat pathetic thought, but we are not ashamed to love our city and its history.
The idea was implemented by the artist Maria Plyatsko. She was the one who imagined the image in the form of a stained glass window, and also added her signature flower to the front of the T-shirt. You can also see the signature inscription “CHAR” on the front of the image.
The words “Give me liberty or give me death!” are attributed to the American politician and orator Patrick Henry from his speech about the struggle for the independence of the United States. However, we in Lviv also know that “Slaves are not allowed in heaven!”.
In addition, we see the year and the author's signature on the image, mainly for stylization, but also for completeness of information.
